China Sales Director - Based in Hong Kong, SAR
About the Team:
South China Morning Post seeks a world-class sales leader to develop and expand our business. You will join our dynamic Sales Team in Hong Kong and strengthen our partnerships with Mainland Chinese companies across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.
Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of this role is to identify and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships that contribute to our global growth strategy, with a particular emphasis on expanding our presence in the Chinese market. The successful candidate will report to the COO and serve as a solutions-oriented leader with a strong background in business development.
In this role, you will serve as the South China Morning Post's brand ambassador, assisting Chinese companies in connecting with their current and future customers through the SCMP portfolio of solutions.
- Establish and nurture relationships with Chinese clients, stakeholders, and partners to support business objectives and foster collaboration.
- Understand clients’ business strategies, objectives, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for growth. Address challenges collaboratively to ensure mutual success.
- Proactively identify and pursue revenue opportunities. Develop strategic initiatives that benefit both our organization and our clients, utilizing insights into the Chinese market dynamics.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to create tailored solutions that address the specific needs of clients, ensuring alignment with their goals.
- Strive to improve the overall client experience by delivering exceptional service, reinforcing the value of partnering with our organization.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitive dynamics to identify emerging opportunities for business growth and partnership.
Skills and Experience that will lead to success:
- Ten years+ in business development and sales management role
- Strong understanding of the dynamics and regulatory environment of the Chinese market, with experience in the relevant industry.
- Knowledgeable in the expansion strategies needed by Chinese companies globally and a well-established network within the Chinese business landscape.
- Track record of successfully generating new business opportunities and driving significant revenue increases.
- Established connections with brands and business leaders, both within and outside of China.
- Experience working with senior executives across a diverse organization in China, fostering collaboration and strategic alignment.
- Ability to excel both independently and as part of a team while managing competing priorities in a dynamic setting.
- Strong planning and organizational capabilities, with a capacity to work effectively under pressure.
- Proficient in both Mandarin and English, with spoken and written fluency. Proficiency in Cantonese is an added advantage.
The main working location will be at the Hong Kong office.
