Purpose of the Position:

South China Morning Post (SCMP) is looking for a talented Associate Editor to support the production of content for Post Magazine, a soon-to-be revamped title focused on culture, F&B, travel and more. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, write and edit Post Magazine content
  • Manage a team of freelance writers 
  • Manage a few sections in the magazine, covering different beats in the culture and lifestyle space.
  • Make sure editorial deadlines are strictly adhered to and content quality upheld
  • Generate content ideas with writing staff and freelancers
  • Commission articles from freelance and in-house writers
  • Edit and rewrite articles
  • Understand and comply with media law and industry ethical guidelines
  • Work with the art director, designers and photo editor to elevate the aesthetic and layouts of feature stories.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree holder in a relevant discipline with minimum 5-10 years in a reputable media company
  • Experience in lifestyle journalism
  • Extensive experience in print
  • Knowledge of magazine production cycles
  • Excellent editing and copywriting skills
  • Ability to write compelling, clean copy
  • Dynamic and able to think out of the box
  • Able to multitask and thrive in a deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Professional, with strong work ethics
  • Knowledge of Chinese an advantage

Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
