Production Editor (Photos)

Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Photo Editor and his deputies, the production editor will coordinate with other team members on the field to edit photos sent by them to ensure the best selection can be used online and ensure they are used well and are accurately captioned. He will work with the Photo Editor and his deputies to ensure the best photos are published online and in turn ensure a pipeline of photos is ready to be used for print later in the day.

In this role, you will: 

• Collaborate with desks across the newsroom to ensure the best digital photos are published online in a timely fashion
• Maintain close communication with desks and team leaders and reporters
• Help in archiving photos for future use
• Ensure captions are properly and accurately done. Maintain standards on captions for all photos that are used and/or archived
• Ensure photography quality and standards are maintained throughout the site
• Attend daily morning meetings on behalf of the photo editor and provide him with a summary of action lines for the day
• Provide weekly reports to the photo editor on the performance of the team especially in the engagement and reach of photo galleries

Skills and Experience that will lead to success:

• Strong and relevant experience in photojournalism; degree in photojournalism is desirable
• Strong photo editing and processing skills
• Strong command of English to ensure captions are accurate
• Good skills in photography as he may be required to be deployed on the field occasionally
• Team player, willing to work under hectic work schedule
• Good command of English, Cantonese and Putonghua

Work location will be at Hong Kong office.
